The sighting of a Red Underwing Catocala nupta is a sign that the huge moth hauls will soon be coming to an end. This one at Tophill Low NR, East Yorkshire in the last week posed rather well for a photo.
August Thorn Ennomos quercinaria is a species which isn’t annual at Tophill Low NR in the traps. This one of two individuals caught a week ago. Acleris emargana was new to the site 12 months ago. This the third site record.
Not being doing a great deal odonata related the last coupled of weeks, but Southern Hawker Aeshna cyanea don’t prove too elusive.
